DELL has announced INSPIRON 1525,a blu-ray laptop which costs less than $1000.INSPIRON 1525 comes with a Blu ray drive and HDMI port for easy connectivity to high resolution displays and HDTVs.Inspiron 1525 laptop has a 15.4 inch high definition wide aspect display with 720p resolution.It comes with Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 processor,integrated 2.0 megapixels,Dell travel remote and noise isolation Ear buds,Intel integrated Graphics Media Accelarator X3100.Also it comes with multiple colours.It will be a nice idea to buy this if you are looking for nice budget laptop.

TATA BUYS JAGUAR AND LAND ROVER

Tata motors,India's top vehicle maker has agreed to buy the Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motor Co for $2.3 billion.Ford is expected to contribute approximately about $600 million towards Jaguar/Land Rover pension plans.

Ford has decided to sell Jaguar and Land Rover after losing $2.7 billion last year and $12.6billion in the year 2006.Tata motors has been the front runner to buy Jaguar and Land Rover since the beginning of this year.With this deal Tata motors is expected to gain the popularity of its own products through out the world.Same Tata group acquired the steel maker Corus approximately for $12 billion a year back to become the 5th largest producer of steel.This finished deal will be a milestone in India's automobile industry.It will be interesting to see how Tata manages to stablize the sales of these luxury cars which also produces the world's cheapest car Tata Nano.

KIMI WINS MALAYSIAN GP

Reigning world champion Kimi Raikkonen has won the Malaysian Grandprix .Kimi crossed the finish line ahead of Robert Kubica with a split time of 19.5 seconds with Heikki Kovalainen finishing third.Ferrari's performence was strong through out this weekend after their disastrous performance last week with both cars failing to finish the race in Australia.Earlier in the race,Massa started from his pole position holding Kimi until his first pit stop.Later Massa spun at the eigth corner and strucked into the gravel which marked his second consecutive retirement of this season.Meanwhile Lewis Hamilton finished fifth and two time world champion Fernando Alonso finished in eigth position.Now only with three points splitting between the top three drivers,Lewis Hamilton leads with 14 points and both Kimi Raikkonen and Nick Heidfeld sharing the second place in the table with 11 points each.Force India's Giancarlo Fisichella finished in 12th position which is the best performance of this new team so far.Next race will be held in couple of weeks in Bahrain.

MICROSOFT ADOPTS FLASH

Microsoft has decided to support Adobe's Flash technology on its windows Mobile platform in addition to its own Silverlight multimedia technology.Microsoft has signed a deal with Adobe Flash Lite,the Flash player for mobile devices and it also licensed Adobe Reader LE software,so that it will enable windows mobile users to view PDF documents.This feature allows the windows mobile users to view rich web content through Internet Explorer using either Flash or Silverlight.

MALAYSIAN GP-PREVIEW

After dominant performance by the Englishmen Lewis Hamilton in the Albert park Melbourne last week,its the time for the F1 teams to plan their strategy for the Malaysian Grandprix.The Sepang International Circuit has the reputation of "most challenging circuit" among the F1 drivers and we can once again expect a interesting race this week with drivers exposing their driving skills without traction control.Already most of the drivers seems to be struggling in the Albert park which is considered to be the easiest circuit.The hot weather in Australia last weekend will help the teams to prepare for the Malaysian GP which is considered to be hottest races on the F1 calendar.

With a very tight first corner, it will be a challenging task for the drivers to go past it without any damage.It will be a advantage for the drivers starting in the front row with a long straight from the starting grid.Ferrari will try to make both their drivers end with podium finishes to regain their championshiop supremacy.

Finally the day has arrived and we got our offer letters for which we were waiting for months.Perhaps this day is one of the happiest occasions in our life but still I like to prioritize July 7th 2007 as the special day in my life.Although everyone's life is not so hard like Christopher Garner's(Will Smith) life in the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness",it will be a same sort of emotions when one hear "You are selected!"and it will be a wonderful experience. After 16 long years of studies, we have got the oppurtunity of looking at the other part of the life "work" and face the challenges in the corporate world.But still I know that it is not the end of the road for our studies and we have to go through a tough time during the training in the concerned companies.With only few days left for the end of our graduation everyone of us shared our presence in the photo session for the memories of this special day.Also with this, I would like to wish all my friends a prosperous future.

Chip making giant Intel announced the world's smallest,least power consuming processor on last week.Intel named it as ATOM.It is so small of size 45nm, packing 47 million of the world's tiniest transistors that are ever integrated into a silicon slab.The clock speed of Atom is 1.8GHz which seems to be decent and it consumes less power of 2.5 watts compared to the 35 watts Intel's dual core processors.
The two processors that make up the new Atom line are Silverthorne for MIDs(Mobile Internet Devices), and Diamondville to fuel the low-cost PCs such as its own Classmate PC and the Asus Eee PC.Devices powered by Intel Atom processors allow the users to stay in touch on-the-go,connect to business and enjoy entertainment. Intel calls these new devices as Netbooks or NetTops to distinguish them from notebooks and desktops.

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME

Daylight Saving Time starts in many parts of United states from 9th March and ends on first sunday of November.Daylight Saving Time is a way of using more light out of the day by advancing clocks by one hour during the summer.Thus during DST, sun appears to rise one hour later in the morning and sets one hour later in the evening seeming to stretch the day one hour longer.The concept of DST is introduced inorder to save the energy that are required to light the houses .By practicing this it is expected to save 10,000 barrels of oil every day.During spring clocks are set one hour ahead with 23 hours a day and during autumn,clocks are set one hour back with 25 hours a day.

This concept of Daylight Saving Time was first suggested by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 and later by William Willet in 1907.United States later adapted it by 1916.DST is practiced in many parts of North America,Europe,Australia.

JERICHO-THE OLDEST CITY

Jericho is considered to be the oldest city in the world.Its history has been tracked back to 11,000 years.It has been a colony in 10,000 B.C and evidences suggests that the city was abondoned several times and later expanded and rebuilt several times.

Jericho is a green oasis in the Jordan valley which lies 7 km west of the river Jordan,10 km north of the Dead sea and 30 km east of Jerusalem.There are a lot of important historical places to visit like River Jordan where Jesus Christ was baptized,Mount of Temptation,Hisham palace,Sycamore tree,Monastery of Saint George,Hasmoneans palace,Kumran cave and lot more.

Origin of the name"Jericho" is Semitic,Canaanites meant it as"The Moon".In Syriac the name meant "Scent and odour".Jericho is called "The city of palm" and "The Garden of God".

VIRTUAL REALITY

Virtual Reality is the simulation of a three-dimensional environment that appears real to the viewer.A virtual reality simulation happens in real time or as the viewer watches.The viewer can manipulate the surroundings that he or she sees during a virtual reality simulation.

Virtual reality provides new and helpful ways for people to interact with computers,machines and other people.For example,in areas such as medicene,simulation using virtual reality can provide realistic experiences, such as practicing specific surgical techniques before attempting an actual operation.To be more familiar with Virtual Reality,Hollywood movie "THE MATRIX" says it all.

Three types of hardware are used to create a virtual reality environment.Sensors are used to detect the viewer's reactions or movements,effectors are used to simulate the viewer's senses, and a super computer links the sensors and effectors to create a illusion of a real illusion of a "real" physical environment.

Electronic gloves have been designed as a way of utilising the natural dexterity of human hands to interact with computers.The concept allows the hand to be used as a tool to point, select,reach and even grab information or objects seen on a computer screen or in a virtual reality environment.

Leap day, also known as leap year day, is an extra day added to the month of February in a leap year. February 29 is the 60th day of a leap year in the Gregorian calendar. It occurs every four years in years evenly divisible by four except for centenary years not divisible by 400.A leap day is more likely to occur on Mondays or Wednesdays rather than other days because the Gregorian calendar repeats itself every 400 years. Therefore February 29 can occur 15 times on a Monday or Wednesday, 14 times on a Friday or Saturday and 13 times on a Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday.

History of Leap Day:
In ancient Rome, leap day was on February 24 due to February being the last month of the calendar. The original Roman calendar added an extra month every few years to maintain the correct seasonal changes. The Julian calendar was implemented in 45 BCE, resulting in a leap day being added to the end of February every four years. In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII refined the Julian calendar with a new rule that a century year is not a leap year unless it is evenly divisible by 400. The introduction of the Gregorian calendar was observed in some countries including Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Spain. The conversion took longer for other countries such as Great Britain (1752) and Lithuania (1915).

Traditions:
A tradition was introduced many centuries ago to allow women to propose to men during a leap year. This privilege of proposing was restricted to leap day in some areas. Leap day was sometimes known as “Bachelors’ Day”. A man was expected to pay a penalty, such as a gown or money, if he refused a marriage offer from a woman.The tradition’s origin stemmed from an old Irish tale referring to St Bridget striking a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men every four years. This old custom was probably made to balance the traditional roles of men and women in a similar way to how the leap day balances the calendar.It was also considered to be unlucky for someone to be born on a leap day in Scotland and for couples to marry on a leap year, including on a leap day, in Greece.
